Nose

Revealing complex aromas of limeblossom and white flowers on the bouquet.

Palate

The wine is rich and generous on the palate, offering no trace of overbearing character, and instead delivers mineral notes of lemon verbena, developing into a lovely fresh finish with hints of peppered mint.

Growing Conditions

Sauvignon Blanc yield their best results on the premium quality plots located in Saint-Selve, while Semillon flourishes on the sandy-gravel soils of Portets and Podensac, where it reveals its true worth.

With a vintage with such changeable weather conditions as 2013, constantly adapting and remaining vigilant was of the essence. Continually monitoring disease pressure in the vineyard, a profound understanding of the vineyard, painstaking canopy management to tame extremely vigorous growth and severe harvest selection proved central to the success of this complicated vintage.

The whites, vinified for the first time in the brand new Orangerie, specially renovated to allow vinification and elevage in barriques, are showing well, having benefited from the cool September nights. The Semillon, which is planted extensively on the estate, is very attractive, as is the Sauvignon, albeit in reduced volumes having being struck by coulure.

Harvest

Manual picking, in small crates
Sémillon: September 23rd to 27th
Sauvignon: September 20th

We harvest sauvignons and semillons in the morning freshness in order to preserve their natural acidity.

Bottling

July 2014

Winemaking

The white grapes, which are predominantly Semillon, are harvested by hand in slatted crates to avoid any damage to the berries. They are then pressed under inert gas to retain the complex aromas and the freshness of the musts.

Aging

The wines are then aged for 8-9 months. In the same oak barrels, on fine lees, with regular stirring of the lees.

Appearance

Lovely green-tinged pale yellow in colour.

Food Pairing

Perfectly matches poultry (ginea fowl, roasted chicken), fishes (lobster, skate with cream and sauces), crustacean (oysters, crab), and cheese (unpasteurized and mature cheese).
