Nose
Its nose is simple, light and flowery. It is almost like a pinot noir.
Palate
1992 is described as an abundant but complicated vintage with little concentration.
Growing Conditions
After the rain, the sun. August 1992 was damp; September was dry at first, then wet again during the harvest. Conditions that made it difficult for the grapes to ripen uniformly. The vinification had once again to work its magic.
In 1992, the winter did not last very long. The weather became very mild for the season as of February 25th. The vines started to grow on March 23rd. Temperatures cooled down towards the end of the month with the arrival of sleet and the vegetation struggled to develop until April 18th. The first flowers appeared on May 25th, at the end of an extraordinarily hot month; we recorded highs of 33°C from 16th to 19th! The Merlot vines blossomed quickly and steadily, but cool, wet weather in June slowed things down and disrupted the fertilization of the Cabernet. Despite a bit of coulure and the consequences of the frost of 1991, fertility was promising. Summer really got going as of July 14th. We noticed the first grain alterations on the 23rd. August was hot and very rainy until 8th. The véraison was fairly slow. It rained heavily on August 31st. The berries swelled considerably and grey mold caused notable damage. The slow maturation of the red wine berries delayed the start of the harvest until September 28th. The Merlot appeared to be of good quality. However, the alternation of rain,
sun and cold complicated the finishing touches of maturity. Unfortunately, even the greatest of willingness and specific interventions were not enough to produce a wine of quality.
