The nose is still restrained at this stage.

Palate

On the palate, the wine is dense and silky at first, with an absolutely remarkable freshness that is the unique feature of this vintage and allows for great intensity with a singular finish. This Fieuzal 2018 offers exceptional ageing potential, demonstrating a mastery of fine balance and pure power.

Growing Conditions

2018 offered a wet spring and early summer, followed by excellent ripening conditions that resulted in very fine fruit. September and October were a winemaker’s dream. This 'Indian Summer' allowed us to harvest each plot at its desired degree of ripeness.

Yield: 22 hl/ha

Winemaking

The Merlot posses sed rare levels of concentration, the Cabernet Franc was delicious and silky, the Petit Verdot deep and dark, and the Cabernet Sauvignon had its characteristic power and freshness.

Appearance

The colour is a deep, intense red that reflects the wine’s superb concentration.

Fieuzal white is an enchanting balance between our Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon fruit. Aged for 12 months in French Oak barrels, the wine grows to fill the entire palate whilst providing a teasing combination of zesty, fruity and floral notes.

Over the years, L’Abeille has developed a strong identity of its own. Crafted with the same careful attention as Château de Fieuzal, it is conceived for light-hearted, easy-going enjoyment. Its fruit stems from the same vines as the first wine, grown with the same degree of care and preserving Fieuzal’s unique combination of freshness and finesse. L’Abeille red is majority Merlot, therefore delicately smooth whilst being juicy, fruity, and full of character.

Over the years, L’Abeille has developed a strong identity of its own. Crafted with the same careful attention as Château de Fieuzal, it is conceived for light-hearted, easy-going enjoyment. Its fruit stems from the same vines as the first wine, grown with the same degree of care and preserving Fieuzal’s unique combination of freshness and finesse. L’Abeille white is majority Sémillon, giving a generous bouquet of aromas balanced with a touch of crisp indulgence.
