Nose

It presents a subtle and intense nose, marked by notes of candied apricot. Aromas of yellow peach, vanilla, honey and beeswax then emerge, combined with a hint of minerality.

Palate

The palate is taut, very elegant and wonderfully sweet. Very ripe yellow fruit comes once again to the fore , with honey, spices and a hint of wood.

The long finish lingers with notes of liquorice, Seville orange and a hint of hot spice. It is straight and very well defined.

Château Suduiraut 2007 has an extremely pure, taut texture. After ageing for 11 years it is starting to open up.

Growing Conditions

A relatively mild winter with average rainfall heralded an exceptionally hot start to the spring. The growth of the vines therefore began with a head start of more than 2 weeks. The rest of the season, however, was much cooler and wet. Crop thinning and above all leaf removal, were performed with even greater rigour than usual. Fortunately, our sandy, gravely soil withstood the vagaries of the summer and the extensive work carried out in the vineyard made it possible to bring the grapes to a good level of ripeness before the development of the botrytis. September saved the vintage! Three weeks of unbroken hot, dry weather produced excellent ripeness. Harvesting was able to start, in the sunshine.

Harvest

Harvesting required five tries all completed in excellent conditions between the 15th of September and the 30th of October. The first two tries were characterised by a very clean shrivelling of the grapes due to the extremely dry, windy start to September. Subsequently, light rainfall and finally heavy mists enabled the botrytis to develop on perfectly ripe grapes. The 3rd trie revealed all the elegance of the freshly settled botrytis. A long anticyclone reigned over the region enabling us to complete the harvest with two splendid tries combining richness and acidity.
