Nose
With age, the nose has become powerful and complex. Aromas of candied citrus emerge combined with notes of wood and vanilla.
Palate
The palate has become more powerful over time, while retaining its great freshness. Candied citron, pineapple, mild spices and a hint of honey are once more in evidence.
The smooth finish with overtones of Seville orange and caramel ends with saffron and a hint of minerality.
Growing Conditions
The winter was relatively mild and much drier than in 2007. The mild, rainy spring nonetheless surprised everyone with the extensive cold snap of April 7 affecting two thirds of the harvest.
A wet spring followed by a gloomy summer resulted in widespread downy mildew. Successive treatments and leaf and crop thinning were required to maintain the healthy condition of the vines.
Full ripeness in satisfactory conditions was only reached as from September 15.
Harvest
The harvest was able to start the 26th of September to finish the 19th of November with a total of 5 successive 'tries' through the vines.
