Growing Conditions
2018 is the first of three consecutive strong Bordeaux vintages, each with their own characteristics determined by the location of the vineyard and the specific weather of that year.
In Paradise Rescued, Cardan Bordeaux, the season began with a lot of winter / spring rain plus humidity in the vineyard. Overall the vineyards were well organically protected and mildew free going into the hot summer that followed.
A long hot rain free period from late June, July, August and on into September. In the final part of summer, the weather pattern was characterised by dry often hot days with cool to cold nights - ideal conditions for achieving both ripe and mature fruit in the vineyard. Gentle rain fell in early September as a perfect lead into the harvest period.
