Notes of fresh blackcurrant, ripe red and black fruits and a subtle touch of black pepper.
On the palate, the wine unfurls gracefully, revealing a harmonious balance of velvety tannins, bright acidity, and layers of blackcurrant, and black cherry interwoven with nuances of spice and tobacco from its partial aging in French oak barrels.
Born from our iconic parcel, Le Clos Borgeat, this wine elevates a unique clay-limestone terroir, enriched by its proximity to the Gironde estuary. Sheltered by natural hedges and caressed by coastal winds, it reveals a rare complexity.

Our neo-gothic château isn’t just a backdrop; it’s the soul of our estate. For generations, it has stood watch over the vineyards of Blaye. Our deepest commitment is to the land itself—to rescuing forgotten vines and nurturing them back to health using sustainable practices. This cuvée, 1856, is a testament to that mission. It’s more than wine; it’s a taste of the unique terroir we fiercely protect and a bottle filled with the history of this special place.
