Palate
Affectionately referred to as “Force Tranquil” by Philippe, this seductive wine boasts incredible amplitude, minerality with good acidity and freshness in the finish. The tannins are reminiscent of left bank classic Bordeaux and demonstrate what old vines are capable of producing. Recommended to decant.
Growing Conditions
Montbleau Vineyard is situated on the western side of St. Helena on gentle sloping hills of Glass Mountain off the Silverado Trail. The soil is fractured bedrock with heavy loamy and glass sediments. This 2 acre hillside vineyard is fully exposed to the afternoon sun and is an extremely low yielding vine. The wine is intense and rich with graphite and leather components.
