Nose
Notes of licorice, chargrill, fertile loam, and dark chocolate, giving way to a core of baked plums, and boysenberry preserves.
Palate
Generous aromatics, richly textured, powerful and earthy, signature Pomerol with the deft touch of Lafleur. Opens wide and generous and then tightens and grips. This is a gorgeous wine filled with black cherry, damson, mocha, orange zest, all with a whisper of anise.
Growing Conditions
We produce Les Pensées from a small streatch of Pomerol clay in the center of Lafleur's gravel dominated vineyard.
It is a 4.5-hectare Pomerol property situated opposite Pétrus.
Winemaking
Historically a much coveted second wine, Les Pensées evolved into a defined Cru detached from the surrounding Lafleur parcels. Les Pensées is among the greatest wines of the plateau of Pomerol.
Produced from younger vines or lots that did not make it into the final blend of the Grand Vin.
Les Pensées brings together finesse and complexity, resulting in a distinct interpretation of the vineyard of Lafleur.
Appearance
Deep purple-black in color.
