Growing Conditions
Château Baret is located in the commune of Villenave d'Ornon, at the gates of Bordeaux.
The property's practically urban location means that the grapes ripen exceptionally early, limiting the impact of the late-season climatic hazards that are common in the region.
Combined with the classic gravelly-sandy and gravelly-clay soils of the great terroirs of the left bank of Bordeaux, the conditions are perfect for producing great red wines. The colder clay-limestone and clay-gravelly soils are reserved for white wines. They are less represented, which explains the low proportion of white wines in the production.
The Château is surrounded by vineyards which occupy 25.80 hectares, out of the 40 of the property, including White vineyards - Surface area: 4.10 ha. Grape varieties: 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Sémillon.
