Nose

The wine is concentrated and intense on the bouquet, developing notes of ripe fruits and liquorice.

Palate

Generous and rich on the palate, displaying signs of good maturity, while the silky, well-balanced tannic structure is underpinned by impressive freshness on the finish. A very good Le boscq ably illustrating the high quality of the gravel-clay soils.

Growing Conditions

The water-retaining capacity of the clay soils at Le Boscq reduced the effects of a vintage marked by contrast, with a very rainy, then dry spring, by reducing hydric stress and by retaining the available water for release during dry periods. Volumes are again down at Le Boscq, but the quality is right on target. The harvest, which was later than long term averages, was concluded in good conditions. Vinification revealed the exceptional phenolic potential of the vintage; cuvaisons were very long, lasting more than a month, acidity levels have been confirmed and the wines exude character and personality. This is a terrific vintage at Le Boscq.
